Our Vision for Children

Children are small for such a short amount of time, at Wollaston and Strixton Pre-School we support them to discover their potential and flourish into confident individuals ready and prepared to succeed at school. We do this through an enabling environment teaching them to make friends, explore the world, laugh and make memories. The children are at the centre of our practice, our environment is supported by positive role models to support each child’s individual learning and development based on their current interests and fascinations.

We do this by offering a curriculum that targets the child’s individual needs. This is the “what” we want the children to know. Our curriculum is built up by the Statutory framework for the early year’s foundation stage, which is supported by the non-statutory framework, birth to five. As a setting we set outcomes in order for children to be successful in the widest sense.

We then use our pedagogy to ensure that the curriculum is delivered in the most effective manner. Adapting our activities, questions, conversations, and choices of resources to help shape a child’s own way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and behaviour they need.

We use the tool of assessment to ensure each key person understands each child’s needs and how to deliver the curriculum effectively.

So here at Wollaston & Strixton Pre-School we pride ourselves on having a warm and nurturing environment that allows the children to safely explore the world around them in free flow play with or without the need for their shoes.

Wollaston & Strixton Pre-School is keeping the early years unique.
